Wedding Hair Tips

Never before has a woman had a more exciting, nerve-racking, whirlwind of a day than that of her wedding.
Teddie says "relax."

Teddies Tips for Wedding Hair

Once the proposal is accepted, the invitations are mailed and the room is booked, a bride’s thoughts turn to her wedding-day look.

With all eyes on her, it is the day she wants to look – and feel – absolutely fabulous.

With all eyes on her, it is the day she wants to look – and feel – absolutely fabulous. Northfield-based Teddie Kossof Salon, serving the Chicago area for 30 years, has some valuable advice and timely reminders to make that allimportant trip to the salon a pleasant, stress-free experience for women about to walk down the aisle.

“Bridal hairstyles need to reflect the brides' personality and personal style,” says Kossof. “Today's bride looks for ‘more’ from her wedding day salon services: more fun, more beauty, and more individuality. This desire can bring a bride stress, especially when it comes to her weddingday look.”

Kossof’s years of experience working with brides provides him the expertise to offer some tips for those about to take the plunge:

Scheduling Your Appointment

  • Go to a professional salon that will give you special attention. It’s about connecting and communication.
  • Schedule your wedding hair appointment at least eight weeks in advance.
  • Find a stylist whose salon also provides make up artistry and nail care.
  • If budget is a concern, avoid out-servicing your styling session. Hiring a professional to come to you is a significantly higher cost than utilizing in-salon services.
  • Have a wedding-hair practice session at least a month ahead with your veil. This will ensure that the stylist can provide the look you want.
  • Schedule all nail appointments for you and your bridal party for the day before your wedding.
  • Set aside enough time in the day’s schedule to “de-panic” the situation.

Choosing Your Wedding Hairstyle

  • Consider the cut of your dress when deciding on a hairstyle.
  • Next to the dress, the time of day should have some bearing on the hairstyle and headpiece you choose.
  • The finished design and size of a hairstyle and veil depends on a few factors: only an experienced professional can provide.

At the Salon

  • During the consultation, communicate likes and dislikes clearly. Ultimately you must be happy.
  • Bring visuals to help the stylist achieve the look you want.
  • Take along a camera and get photos of the front, back and sides of your hair.

Above all, remember that the focus of your wedding day is you and your groom,” Kossof says. “Enjoy your day and savor all of the memories it will bring.”
