Beauty and Wellness Combine at Teddie's Salon
- July 22, 1999 • Pioneer Press
Looking good and feeling good go hand in hand. And that is especially true at Teddie Kossof Salon, Spa and Wellness Center. The 17,000-quare-foot facility is the largest of its kind under one roof.
This three-story building is located at 281 Waukegan Road in Northfield. There are 36 hair-stylists, seven colorists, nine manicurists, 10 receptionists and 20 support staff. The parking lot can accommodate 300 cars. Each week, more than 1,700 clients are pampered in the comfortable surroundings. Open seven days and five evenings a week, the business and its talented staff is ready to serve you. As Teddie would say, "We're open for your convenience, not ours."
Customers are invited to book a free consultation with master stylist, Teddie Kossof. After a lifestyle profile, suggestions will be made on ways to improve your hairstyle, color, make-up and skin. Then Teddie will assign the stylist that is right for you.
The day-spa services are a great way to relax without leaving town. The location is convenient to the North Shore communities and clients are invited to take advantage of services to suit their needs and schedules.
The Wellness Center is the newest addition to the salon. Dr. Mitchell Kaminski is the director. Laser surgery, acupuncture, chiropractic, nutrition and alternative medicine treatments are offered. Cosmetic dentistry and a personal trainer are all part of this beauty emporium.
Teddie Kossof has long been known in the industry as one of the top 20 salon owners in the United States, as selected by Salon Today Magazine. He was also the first elected president of The Salon Association in 1995. This organization strives to improve the relationship between consumers and salon professionals.
Teddie has always been a community-minded individual who believes in giving time and money to a wide variety of organizations. Recently, he established a Business Leaders Fund and was able to raise more than $13,000 from top community leaders. Children with bipolar disorders, the Juvenile Diabetes Association, The Children's Place, the Krohn's Disease Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Northbrook/Glenview Youth Services are just a few of the organizations that have been supported by Teddie Kossof. Each year, more than $150,000 in gift certificates are given out to organizations asking for donations.
Wherever there is a need, whether it be to host a fundraiser or to lend his name and reputation to a cause, Teddie is there to lend support. As he is quick to say, "Our commitment to the beauty and health needs of our clients, and to the community, will never stop."
