Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa has been building a special relationship with Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL to help cancer patients and their families.

NORTHFIELD, IL • September, 2009

When the Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital asked Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa for support, Alan Kossof, General Manager and Salon Director of Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa simply asked, “How can we help?”

Following their strong tradition of community based philanthropy, the staff at Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa have been donating services to patients and families at the Center. “We consider these activities an essential responsibility of ours,” explains Teddie Kossof. “Businesses have to give back to the community.”

Uplifting the Spirits of a Young Cancer Patient

In August 2009, the Center identified a young female patient who could benefit from the relationship the hospital has built with the Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa.

The very day that the Center called, Teddies sent Master Hair Designer Zack to assist the patient, a young girl who was losing her hair while undergoing treatment at the Center. Teddie donated a high quality wig for the young lady, and Zack was able to help her with expert styling techniques. This simple gesture was intended to help her through a difficult transition, and lift her spirits while she endures treatments. According to the Center, Teddies services “truly brightened the spirits of this young teen, who was starting to struggle with self images issues, remember that she is indeed beautiful and will always be beautiful inside and out, despite changing circumstances. Her mood completely changed that day because of your wonderful service.”

Stylish Support for the Mothers of Young Cancer Patients

Earlier this summer, Lutheran General reached out to Teddie Kossof and asked what could be done for the mothers of children who are in the support program for the Midwest Children’s

In response, two moms from the oncology and brain tumor support program of the Midwest Children's Brain Tumor Center of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital were treated to an afternoon of pampering at Teddie Kossof Salon & Spa in Northfield.

Pictured are Alan Kossof, AnnMarie Campus, Ashley Surin and hairstylists Sandy and Bianca. Campus and Surin were treated to manicures, pedicures, scalp treatments and new hairstyles.

"I had a great time with these deserving Mom's," said salon manager Alan Kossof. "Our staff enjoyed pampering them too!"
